Mission Conference

Well...we ended our annual mission conference on Sunday evening. It was a great conference, but it was also very tiring for me. We got the news on Wednesday that one of the missionaries would not be able to be with us for the conference, because of surgery he had the following week. He was still hoping to come to the conference, but things just didn't work out for him to attend. We had two other missionaries to step up to the plate...Boxley Boggs and Rick Hudson. Rick opened our conference with a game on Thursday. Through this game we were able to see what it takes for the churches to send missionaries...and how the missionaries go out to get support. Then how they go out and reach the lost. It was an eye opening game at how difficult it is to get support...thus being why missionaries are on deputation for more than 2 years.

Friday night Boxley spoke and Rick showed a slide presentation. Saturday, Boxley shared more experiences from the field, and Rick preached a message on Barnabus (or as we like to call him Barney). Sunday morning Rick spoke in the young adult Sunday school class and we studied John Mark's life. He brought out a few failures as well as a few accomplishments we can learn from John Mark's life. It was a very interesting lesson. During the morning service Boxley spoke and brought out some thoughts that we had been learning in Sunday school class with facing giants in our lives. Rick closed the mission conference on Sunday evening with a lesson about going to the world and reaching it.

I sang on Saturday night. I had chosen a song called "Completely" for the mission conference, but instead at the beginning of the week changed my mind to "One Touch." I just felt that God was leading me to sing that song again...even though I had just sang it the previous Sunday night. I asked my friend Mary to do sign language this time and I think it brought a lot to the song.

This week I have been recovering from the mission conference. I have to clean part of the church tonight. I hope to get some detailed cleaning done this evening. And be able to detail clean the sanctuary on Saturday morning.

This Saturday night I:34 (the group I sing in) is singing at a revival in Wellston. Be praying for us. We are going to sing "Renew Me" and "For All You've Done." Both songs are related to renewal in our Christian life.

Until next time...

Strange noises in the morning...

I've never really thought of myself as a light sleeper, but sometimes a certain noise can wake me up. Situation...I got home late last night...when I did I was on the phone with a friend for when I got to bed this was after 1 or so. I was planning on sleeping as late as I could. Well...this morning I kept hearing a knocking noise...not sure what was causing it, but then I heard something like walking...from a little creature (i.e. a mouse). "Great! Not again!" I thought. I yelled for my mom, but apparently it wasn't loud enough. I thought to myself, "maybe if I turn the light on it may stop" I'm not sure that was a good idea...because it did stop, and I haven't found the mouse or heard anything since then...of course, now I'm not in my room because I don't want to see the creature. I hate mice...seriously. soon as my mom wakes up, I'm going to see if she can get a trap for me to put in my room. BTW, did I say I really hate mice.

Random life experiences...

This week has been interesting to say the least. Thursday was Valentine's Day. I met up with some friends after work. We went to eat and watch a movie. It was nice to spend the time with friends and enjoy fellowship of other singles in our group.

Friday I went out with Steve, Ginger, and Mary for dinner. We got to talk to Sammi on the phone. Then met up with D33 for a movie after dinner. I got cold in the theater and asked for D33's jacket. He had been sitting on it. He asked me if I was getting sick...I didn't know if I was or not...but I was cold. LOL!!!

Today I cleaned and I may go to a movie tonight. I haven't decided yet. Sometimes I like going to movies alone. I don't know why I like this, but sometimes I do. But then again, one of my friends may want to go too.

This week, I'm really excited because Thursday begins the mission conference. Since my short term missions trip, I really enjoy this time of year. Pastor says that this year is going to be one of our best, because of the focus he has talked to with the missionaries speaking. I'm also excited about the speaker for our Sunday school class ... Rick Hudson. He was our missionary host for our short term trip.

Well...that's all for now...until next time...

Fun weekend...with two great services at church... crazy can life get? LOL!! I got together with a former co-worker. It didn't work out the way we had planned. We had planned for a Star Babes reunion. I worked at a mortgage company with two girls who had attended a Bible Institute with me. Well...we all ended up at this place of business working together. While we worked there we got to be really good friends and did things outside of work as well. Since we are all no longer at the same place we still try to keep in contact with each other. And that night was set for Thursday, but Kim wasn't able to join us so it was Carrie, Austin (her son), and I. We had a good dinner and catch up time. After that, I went by the bowling alley to hang out with Ben, Mary and her mom. I really enjoy hanging out with my friends. Ben has some really good stories and he's very entertaining. Kat wasn't able to be there due to sickness and she was missed...but we still had a good time.

Since I wasn't able to clean the church on Thursday, I endedup cleaning the entire church on Saturday morning. It was rough. I know now why I like breaking down the cleaning duties for different days. Anyway...I cleaned the part I usually clean on Thursday and then took a lunch break. I met up with Ginger and Mary at Peddlers. After lunch I went back to the church to clean what I normally clean on Saturday. It was a long day, but I made it through. After cleaning I headed home to get a short nap. Ginger called to tell me the plans for the evening. Mary was supposed to be done with laundry by 6:30...which in Mary time is actually 7:30. So we met close to 8 to get something to eat before heading to Wal-mart for some shopping. On the way Mary called another friend to join us. We had tried a few others, but they didn't join us. We met up with our friend D33 at the restaurant. We were there a little over an hour and then headed to Wal-mart, or as we call it the "Time Warp." And sure was after 11 before we got out of there. LOL!!!

Sunday was a really good day. It started with me being late to get the church opened, but still was able to get everything done that needed to be completed. Sunday school was really good. We went over the chapter with Abigail interceding for Nabal. The morning service was good. My friend Sammi sang "The Name Lives On" by David amazing song. Pastor preached on missions giving. He is preparing us for the missions conference. I'm really excited about this years conference. Ever since my short term missions trip, I seem to enjoy these conferences.

Sunday afternoon, the gang headed out to O'Charley's. I was going to workout with Mary and Ginger, but I was really tired, so I came home after dinner. The evening service was really good as well. My friend Kat sang "Only Grace." After she sang, Pastor asked for some testimonies. Several people in the church gave praise to God about different situations in their lives. Pastor's message was how to feel loved and be happy. He's doing this love theme on Sunday evenings. Last week was on the love of God. I told him he's going to have to stop these love messages...they were depressing, but then I he knew I was kidding him.

After church we had a short / long VBS meeting. It was supposed to be short, but we ended up going longer than the board meeting. Finally I made it out of there after 9:30. We are getting excited and our brains are already working on VBS decorations. LOL!!! That can be dangerous. LOL!!!

Well...that's all for now. Later...

ipod shuffle survey...

This is a fun little survey. Thought I'd share it with you all.

The Shuffle Survey
First, the Rules:
1. Put your iTunes/ music player on Shuffle
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. You must write that song name down no matter what.

"Beautiful Soul" by Jesse McCartney

"Here I Am" by Russ Taff

"Home Tonight" by Chris Rice (This is a great song by Chris) I'm such a home body now...I really like spending time with friends at home...not necessarily doing stuff.

"Who Is Like Our God" by Skillet (from the Live CD)

"Captured" by Natalie Grant (The song is about how God has captured us and we can't run anywhere without Him being there. The chorus states "Everywhere I go, You find me, even when I run...I'm Captured in You, Everywhere Your love surrounds me, I can not escape...I'm captured in You"

"The Slam" by Tobymac (This is the song Tobymac wrote after seeing "The Passion of the Christ.")

"Walking in the Light" by White Heart (This song is about we need to be walking in the light, following the master. This song could have been written from Matthew 5:16 "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your light..."

"Love Like Crazy" by Chris Rice (I love this song by Chris, because Jesus loved liked crazy which is how we need to love.)

"Secret Ambition" by Michael W. Smith (This is a song about Jesus' mission when he came to earth. Chorus: "Nobody knew his secret ambition, nobody knew his claim to fame, he broke the old rules steeped in tradition, he torn the holy veil away. Questioning those in powerful positions, running to those who called his name, Nobody knew his secret ambition was to give his life away.")

WHAT IS 2+2?

"You'll See" from the Rent soundtrack.

"Circle Up" by Chris Rice - I have a lot of Chris Rice on my ipod. This song is about circling up and worshipping Him...Jesus.

"Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Avalon. Interesting because that's what I have been doing about the person I like...praying about that situation.

"Farther On" by Russ Taff. This song begins with "I hear you have a soft spot for fools and little children, and I'm glad 'cause I've been both of those. I shook my fists up towards the sky and most of those who's loved me, a frigtened angry boy (girl) in grown ups clothes. But a father's eye can always see right through, and a father's heart can tell when tears are true, now I'm standing on this road, your hand as brought me to, your faithful love will lead me farther on." It makes sense when you hear the words to the song.

"Praise You In The Storm" by Casting Crowns. I guess this is true, because if we are able to praise God in the storms we have faith he will get us through this life.

"Psalm 40" by Newsong (when this song opens Michael O'Brien states verse three...which makes sense with the answer to this question. Verse three states: "He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many people will see this and worship him. Then they will trust the Lord. (NCV)

"Come To Me" by Angie & Debbie Winans

"Love Them Like Jesus" by Casting Crowns

"Virtuoso" by David Phelps. A great song about God being the director of the symphony of life.

"Tuning In" by Newsong. Interesting song...

"The Solid Rock" by Avalon ... but it really isn't a secret.

"Till I See You Again" by Nikki Leonti. The opening lines to this are: "I don't want to let you go, I don't want to say goodbye, But the road has led to this divide."

"It's in God's hands now" by Anointed... honestly this song has been a major song in my life for some time. It's a song that talks about a broken relationship and how the person has tried everything to put them back together, and their last hope is to put it in God's hands now. I think this is a great the end of the song there's a great piano solo that has a sound of hope it in. I think of the saying "With God...all things are possible." Because when we put things in God's hands...there is nothing that is impossible.

I know this isn't the sort of post my mom really likes to read...but I'll get something good next time. Love you momma....

the superbowl...

I really enjoyed watching the superbowl with my friends this year. I have to say when you first talk to me, you probably don't think of me as a sports fan...and in reality that is VERY true. But I have several friends who LOVE football/basketball and one that really loves nascar...anything you want to know about nascar...I know the person who knows it all. Anyway...over the last few years, when they are talking about football, I have found that if I listen I can learn some things. For instance, last month we were in Sunday school class, and I stated the fact that the coach for the Colts wrote a book. The friends in my circle all stared at me with wide eyes, stating, "DeeJay just spoke football." So they wanted to see if I had learned anything else throughout the conversation. Mary asked, "Who is the quarterback for the Colts?" I said, "Peyton Manning?" I believe they all about fell out of their chairs...and they could have passed out too. LOL!!!

During the superbowl, I knew I was cheering for the New York Giants. How did I know this? By listening to my friends. First of all, Peyton Manning's brother is the quarterback for the Giants (Eli). Secondly the coach for the New England Patriots (yes I knew which teams were playing in the superbowl) didn't have a lot of success while coaching the Cleveland Browns (a team that is Ben's favorite). After leaving the Browns this coach...(I really don't like saying his name actually)...began to do well in his career.

While watching the game this year, I was actually on edge. My nerves were shot by the end of the game. I was watching the last few minutes of the game between my fingers.

But seriously...when we have friends with different interests...sometimes if we allow ourselves to step out of our comfort zone and learn something new it can deepen the friendship. So I'm not the normal sports fan, but when watching with my friends...I have a good time. I can learn something new while spending time with some really good friends.

A few years ago one of my friends Kat (yes she's a girl), worked with the band where she teaches. She asked me to go to the games with her each week. Even though I was in the band for 5 years of my middle/high school years, I still had no clue how the game of football worked. One evening we went to a playoff game and we didn't have any responsibilities that night. She sat there watching the game and I asked her a was a basic football question...something that most people can pick up, but I honestly was never taught the game...and never picked it up. I had two older brothers who played, but I was so young then I only went to the games to be seen not because I was a fan. When I was in high school I was in the band and when we were cheering, I followed what the others were saying. Several games I attended with my friend Kat I had brought a book with me to read while she was doing her responsibilities. I always adapted and was able to entertain myself even though I didn't know what was going on...but that night Kat and I were watching and she answered the question...she explained while the game was going on. I picked up a few things...and as I have watched the games since then, I realize it's not as hard as I was making it.

Do I like sports now? Honestly it wouldn't phase me if someone told me I didn't have to watch another game in my life. Am I going to watch anymore games...probably. Because I know I can do it, I now understand the game a little better and my friends really like it.

God is good...

I'm so thankful how God finds new ways to show me he cares about the simpliest of things, and how he protects us in ways that we don't always see, but sometimes He will give glimpses into those ways that He has protected us. I'll explain...

I have been trying to get up in the mornings to workout, because I am trying to make better choices with how I treat my body. Well, this morning, I overslept and endedup reading my Bible then heading to the bathroom for my shower. When I got ready to hit the shower, I normally shut the door from the kitchen to the hallway, but this time I shut my bathroom door instead. It didn't shut all the way, so I reached for it again, and then I saw blood dripping from the top. There was a bat that was on the top of my bathroom door. I don't know how long it was up there, but when I shut the door I killed it. Mom got it on something to throw outside and daddy took it out there.

While I was standing in the shower, I had been frustrated a little about not getting up to workout, but then I thought, had I gotten up earlier, I wouldn't have done things the way I did them and the bat could have been here longer.

God is good to us and He protects us in ways that we may not realize. Even if our plans are changed, He works them out for good.

Yeah God!!!
