The Spiritual War

The past three Sunday evenings Pastor has been preaching sermons on Satan. The message titles were as follows: Satan: The Deceiver, Satan: The Devourer, Satan: His Desire. These messages have been really good to remind me of the spiritual battle we are fighting. But there is still that war we wrestle with...Ephesians 6:12 says "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." This verse has been going through my mind since the first message Pastor preached (about three weeks ago). There is a war! One we can not fight alone. If we are Christians we have the power within us.

Well...on Saturday night, I was yet again on youtube (you know that addiction of mine), and I was looking for videos by CeCe Winans. Mainly because I wanted to see different hairstyles of hers, but I clicked on one video called "Waging War" from her new CD "Thy Kingdom Come." This song "Waging War" is the first single off the CD...as I listened to it, the messages that Pastor spoke came back to my mind, the verse from Ephesians also came back. I love how God works through Christian music.

I am posting the song (by way of youtube.com) here for you to hear. The lyrics are below the video...and since the video is just random pictures of CeCe...it will allow you to follow along with the lyrics. There's more blog for you to read below the lyrics.

Waging War

(Verse 1)
Anoint my head, anoint my feet
Send your angels reigning down
Here on the battle ground
For your glory
Were taking territory
Fighting unseen enemies
Like never before
Were Waging War
-Repeat-[background]

(Bridge 1)
I’m tired of principalities
Messing with me
(Waging war)
I’m tired of the devil
Stealing from me
(Waging war)
I promise that he won’t get
One more thing
(Waging war)
I’m taking it back
I'm taking territory
(Waging war)
I’m ready for the battle
I’m ready to win
(Waging war)
My weapon of power
He lives within
(Waging war)
I can't be defeated
The enemy has gotta flee
(waging war)
I’m taking it back
I'm taking territory

Going into battle
Going into battle
Going into battle

(Verse 2)
Be my sword
Be my shield
As we claim the victory
Over the enemy
In your name
You'll rule and reign
Never being defeated
Anymore
We're waging war
-Repeat-[background]

(Bridge 1)

Send your fire
Send your fire
oooh ooh oh

(Bridge 2)
Fire by night
Cloud by day
A strong tower
Send the latter rain
Lion of Judah
Lord, God,
Mighty In battle
Since you did
It back then
We know you’ll do
It again
-Repeat-

We're going into battle
We're going into battle
We're going into battle

(Bridge 2)

(Bridge 1)

Waging war

My favorite line of this song is "My weapon of power...He lives within." We have the power...how many times do we live our life as if we are defeated people.

This past Sunday I sang "Convinced" by Nicole C. Mullen. This song was written from the verses in Romans 8:38 & 39. It talks about the fact that nothing (and there is a LONG list included with the "nothing") will separate us from the love of God. Since God's love is with us, and nothing will separate me from Him, I am on the winning side. My favorite verse is the second one...it says:

The wind will blow on everybody
And rain will fall on us all
And if the, weather of my life
Is not like I want it, still
I’ll survive thru the storm

There are times that we will face trials, but we need to remember that God is on our side...we will overcome...the trials, storms, Satan's attacks on our life, etc...we are on the winning side. I love how these two songs are reminders to me that God is on my side...I will survive, I am on the winning side. Hallelujah!!
