American Idol Top 5 results...

I wasn't able to write last night...mourning the loss of my Matt in the competition. It was not a surprise, but I was still hoping that he would make it to the top 4...maybe even top 3 (I was hoping he would be a Melinda or an Elliott). The good thing is I'll buy his CD when it's released.

So...I wanted to say Jamie Foxx is an amazing singer, but I'm not really into his fast tempo songs. He's hott! and one of those people I can look at and appreciate God's creation. LOL!!! Anyway...I really enjoyed this week and him mentoring because I really thought his advice was good and it seemed to be taken well by the contestants. I loved what he had said to changing the key and singing it in full voice. Foxx knows his stuff. Also him getting into Danny's space and seeing a difference in his song...good stuff.

I don't know what to expect next week. I think it will be a strong week for Allison and A.Lambert, but then again, because they have that bar set high...will they be able to do something that will be surpassing that...or will it fizzle??

Now that my Matt is out...ALL of my votes will be thrown to Danny. Not that I don't like the others, just that at the beginning Danny caught my eye...and I have been pulling for him since audition. He's a church boy too...gotta support my Christian brothers.

Until next time...

American Idol - Top 5 - Rat Pack

Jamie Foxx as cool! I think he's an amazing performer. I didn't know he was classically trained that was nice to know.

Kris - The Way You Look Tonight
He did really well. Great vocal ability and control. I liked the song even before he sang it - but I thought Kris raised the bar a little.

Allison - Someone to Watch Over Me
She did well...I agree with what Simon said...about not being a performance that showed she really believed she would be the next American Idol. Don't get me wrong...she's a good singer, but star quality I haven't really seen in her. To be in the top have to bring it, and there have been some weeks she has been off...she's got to be on top of her game EVERY week.

Matt G - My Funny Valentine
When it was first said before the break about "Funny Valentine," I thought back to when Melinda Doolittle sang this song. The praises she received after her performances was something I'll never forget (because I think it was the first time I had heard it). I loved the advice that Foxx gave Matt...and the fact that Matt took the advice. I think had he not he wouldn't have received such high praise from Simon. During the performance, I myself was amazed. His vocal tone is incredible. There is something about it that really hits me in the heart...Trouble breathing, hot flashes, etc will continue from there. Anyway...I love Simon! I love the fact that he saw something in the performance just as I saw. I was afraid I may have just been biased, but if Simon agrees with me, I feel I am not being too easy on him.

Danny - Come Rain or Come Shine
WOW! WOW! WOW! Amazing! Loved he really brought it tonight. His tone was great. The word "swag" used by Kara was a good one to describe his performance. Simon used "OUTSTANDING!" I agree with him.

A.Lambert - Feeling Good
Vocally the beginning was very smooth. Lung capacity is excellent for this guy. What I don't like about A.Lambert is his "broadway" sound nor his screaming. I noticed as they played the performances with the numbers again he had done a little more "craziness" with the long held out note at the end...that's what I don't like A.Lambert to do. When it was was a good note (but the one taped earlier for the rehearsals was too "screamy" for me).

Honestly my top two are Matt G. & Danny. I loved them both. Kris would be my next person.

As far as who I think will be in bottom three. I really don't know, but I have a feeling the bottom two will be Kris and Allison. Matt may be the other one...but I'm hoping to stop that fact. LOL!!!

One thing my mom mentioned during this show was that...this was the first time they sang songs she actually had heard. It was a good show even though most of the songs I don't remember hearing of. I did know Kris' and Matt's so though...

Until tomorrow night...

Results for American Idol - Top 7

Well...I have to say I'm very satisfied with the results. Hated to see Allison in bottom three, but so thankful that Matt G was safe. YEAH!!! I think this top 5 will be a good one. I know who I'm watching now...I will be praying for good song choices and performances to knock my socks off.

I would like to say I have enjoyed Anoop more than I thought I would. I remember when they made it a top 13...and I wasn't too excited about it, but when he was showing his ballad side...I saw that he was a GREAT singer.

Lil, I think she just lost herself. I hated the fact that she felt she needed to express herself after the judges would comment. I think had she just taken their criticism in silence...listened to it and followed it (she would say she would follow it and do better, but each week it was the same thing...little lost Lil) she would have done better.

I am thankful that my Matt G. is still in it. Love him...really enjoying what Kris has been showing too, and last but not least Danny is the man too! I'm really pulling for all three of these guys.

Looking forward to next week!

American Idol - top 7 (again) - Disco Week

I was impressed this year...normally when a theme is something like "Country" or "Disco" it seems that contestants try to do something of a copy cat performance. This year, however, the contestants are trying to take more risks and do things their way. I think David Cook from last year showed that it's okay to take risks...and it sometimes helps.

Now for my opinions...

Lil - "I'm Every Woman"
A better song choice than maybe "I Will Survive" but her performance wasn't that great for me. Lil is the only contestant who gets on my nerves when it comes to the judges comments. I hate to hear people argue with their opinions. Yes it may not be something she wants to hear...but they do have their opinions. I am not a Lil fan...and haven't been for awhile now. I did like her in her first audition, but she has gone down hill for me. I really hope tomorrow she will be one of the two to leave.

Kris - "She Works Hard for the Money"
Wow! Kris has impressed me a couple of weeks now. I didn't like him at the beginning...and don't remember his audition or anything he did in Hollywood. But each week he is bringing his game and doing and pulling it off. I'm not sure about Paula's comments, but he did do very well and choosing the right song. It was a risk, but a good one. Well done!

Danny - "September"
Danny is one of my favorites. I would love to see him win the whole thing. As much as I REALLY love Matt G...I would settle for Danny winning, because I like him too. I do think Danny has the potential to make it to the finals. I enjoyed this performance because I love the song, but performing after Kris may have not been a good thing.

Allison - "Hot Stuff"
I like Allison's voice. I like the fact that she's so young and yet so talented, but I'm not sure I really liked this performance. I miss the Allison that sang the song by Heart. That's when she showed me that she had some really good star power. Every since's been down hill for me with her.

A.Lambert - "If I Can't Have You"
I struggle with this one...I liked his vocals when he wasn't screaming. I also enjoyed the arrangement. He made a good choice to not be "Disco" during Disco week. I think the reason I'm not pulling for him is because so many people are. -- I did like his hair tonight...not the "Ken" doll look.

Matt G. - "Stayin' Alive"
I LOVE HIM!!! I enjoyed his performance of this one. I think he worked at the performance to hope he was going to stay alive in the competition. At the end of the could tell that he had put everything he had in it. I respect Simon's opinion of not liking it, because he's not biased with Matt G. as I am...but I still think he did better than what Simon said.

Anoop - "Dim All the Lights"
I really hope this means that the lights may be dim on Anoop tomorrow night. I like Anoop as far as he's been good with the ballads, but tonight he seemed a little corny to me when the song began to pick up the tempo. The last note was not good...very pitchy.

I'd like to say Ryan is hilarious...he's one of the reasons I like watching the show. I'm sure he may have writers to help him come up with the little cute things he says, but he can pull them off well.

As for who I'd like to see go home tomorrow...Lil & Anoop. The performances for me wasn't too great.

Until tomorrow night...

Romans 12:2 - "Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you." (The Message)

Nicole C. Mullen wrote a song that was from studying this verse. It's called "Brainwash"
I need a brainwash
From my head to my soul
I need a brainwash
Bring it down to my toes
I need a brainwash
In and out 'cause you know
I need a B-R-A-I-N double wash

Overwhelmed by the stuff on TV
Overloaded from the pressure fallin' on me
Light head! Oxygen! I've gotta breath

Email, myspace, backin' up all the time
Voicemail, press one if you're on the line
Transformer, can you renew my mind?

I love that line ... "Transformer, can you renew my mind?" Because it's by the Word of God that we can renew our mind.

I took my final in my Romans class tonight. On the way to class I was thinking of this song, because it comes from my favorite chapter of Romans (chapter 12). It's a begins the application of what Paul has been teaching.

BTW...I got a B on my final. YEAH!!! I was hoping for an A...but I ended up with a B, so it's better than a C...and it's still good.

Until next time...

I Know Who I Am

As a little girl, my mom began teaching who I was...even before I gave my heart to Jesus. I would be playing outside in the yard and she would come on the porch and yell to me "who's girl are you?" Of course, as a little girl, I didn't get it and I would just say, "your girl." When I accepted Jesus salvation, at the age of 13, that answer would change and I would answer with "Jesus' girl." Which was such a true statement...and as a little girl I didn't realize that impact that statement was to have on my life and how I would live it.

After I graduated from Southland Bible Institute, I began working for a mortgage company. One day, my godly sister-in-law Tonda came by the office and had a book for me to read. She said, "I want this back, but I really think you need to read this." The title of the book was called "A Jewel in His Crown" by Priscilla Evans Shirer (this is one of the daughters of Dr. Tony Evans). I read the book and as I read it, I began to see the teaching that my mom had been doing all those years. She wanted me to know that I was God's child...and Jewel in His crown. I was the daughter of The King. I had a way I was to present myself...a lifestyle that represented The King Himself.

Today, I called my brother David to talk to him for a little bit. I wanted to thank him for sending me a link to a song that he wanted me to learn. While we talked and discussed different songs, he mentioned one called "I Know Who I Am." As I set and listened to the different YouTube videos, I saw this one that is a shorter version of the song. I wanted to post this and let everyone hear it. I love the fact that I know the message of this song in my heart. I know who I am...I am Yours, Jesus...You are mine. Hallelujah!

I was going to post a video with the lyrics, but this one is shorter...if you want a copy of the lyrics let me know...and I'll post them later.

Until next time...(video posted below)

American Idol Results - My Matt is still in it...

First things first...I was correct in picking the bottom much as I hated to put Matt in there...he ended up with the least number of votes (I'll tell you it wasn't because I didn't vote...I voted A LOT for him).

I can't tell you how happy I am that the judges save was used tonight. I love Matt...I knew he hadn't hit his stride last night, but I do think that the performance last night was better than last nights.

Now for the unhappy news...there is not another save. Matt is still in it, but like Simon said there will be two people going home. I think that can be bad news for some of the people who have done well in the past weeks.

But My Matt is still in I'm a happy girl. (And Danny is still in it too...YEAH!!)

American Idol - Top 7 - Music from the Movies

I first want to comment on the mentor. I remember when Quentin Tarantino was on the show in Season 3. I didn't remember which season it was, but I remember that he wanted to be on the show because he's a huge fan of it. He did a great job in critiquing I was looking forward to him doing actual Mentoring of the contestants.

Allison - "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing"
I like the song, but I didn't really enjoy her performance of it. I do think she has great vocals and will stay in for another week ... as long as her fans vote to keep her in there. The last few weeks, I just haven't gotten Allison's performance...but I don't want to see her go. She's a great singer and has a good voice.

Anoop - "Everything I Do"
Pretty's another slow one so I thought he would nail it. He could have taken Quentin's advice and roughed it up a little more.

(Side note: It was interesting tonight...the advice that Quentin would give, I would see if the contestants took it or not. Most of them didn't take it. I don't know why, but it they just didn't really seem to do what he said.)

A.Lambert - "Born To Be Wild"
I believe this song was written to describe A.Lambert...he is a wild one. I thought he did a great vocal...but I do agree with what Simon said...people will either love it or hate it...and comparing it to last week, it wasn't as good.

My dad had some comments during A.Lambert's's what he said...I was hardly able to keep up with what he said...because this was towards the end of the performance. "He's rockin' it tonight! He put all he's got in it! He likes to holler!"

Matt - "To Really Love a Woman"
I will first say...I'm very biased when I watch my Matt perform. I love him. His voice just melts the insides of me. I enjoyed the rock edge he put towards the middle...I love his high range, and I thought the vocal was good...however Kara and Randy didn't like it. Oh well! I'm still voting for him.

Danny - "Endless Love"
What a great song! I know the song is not the most appropriate song, but with Danny situation I think he can sing it and have that emotion that the song was written about...prom theme for 1985...not so good a choice. LOL!!!

I love Danny about as much as I love Matt. It would have been interesting for me if he had not used his hands as Quentin had suggested. I think him still using the hands distracted me a bit...because that's something they mentioned in the promo of the time with Quentin.

I disagreed with Simon...the arrangement was good for Danny...but it would have been interesting to see him play it up differently. What Danny may have wanted to come across in the song, though, may not have been able to be displayed had the arrangement been different. So I think he did a fine job with it. He's getting my votes too.

Kris - "Falling Slowly"
I've never heard the song Kris chose, so I really had to pay attention to his performance. I thought the song was done well...I didn't hear any pitch problems...and I thought as Kara did that this was a great performance of Kris'. I will say, I wasn't a big fan of Kris' at the beginning of the show, but he has grown on me.

Lil - "The Rose"
Oh...where to begin. I guess I begin with the advice that Quentin gave her. Telling her to sing the song from beginning to end...not just sangin' it with the gospel/r&b feel. When you take a song like "The Rose" has to be sung with feeling and emotion or it will just be a boring song.

Now...the song itself. I thought it was very pitchy in the middle when she was playing up the gospel feel. The last note didn't really do it for me.

When the judges give criticism...especially the SAME criticism as they have been for the last several weeks with her it means it's time for her to go. I don't like how she talks back to Simon (mainly) when he's giving his criticism. For the last several weeks they have told her things, and she says, "I'm gonna do it." But the next week...she's doing the same thing. I know she tried to take this song and jazz it up with her R&B flavor, but it didn't work for her. I mean...she would have been better off singing "I Will Always Love You." If she would have done that...she may have been able to keep her spot...but I really think she's going to be leaving tomorrow night.

Bottom Three - Lil, Anoop, & Matt (I hate to put him there, but to be perfectly honest, I can see him being there tomorrow...the only thing is I'm voting a lot for I may be able to tip the scale. LOL!)

The person to leave...I really think Lil's time is up. We'll see tomorrow night.

Until next time...

The More I Seek You

Happy Easter everybody! I know it's almost over, but it's been a very busy day for me. I overslept this morning, but still was able to make it to sunrise service on time. My friend Ginger spent the night with me. It was funny because I wouldn't have made it in time to pick her up had she not spent the night with me.

This morning at sunrise, my dad spoke at my church. It was so nice to hear him speak again. I haven't had the privledge of hearing him since he started preaching again (after his time away due to medical reasons). It was nice to hear him and how he shared the message of the resurrection from the disciples on the way to Emmaus. I sang before he spoke. It was a new song called "The More I Seek You." It's not an Easter song, but because we know that Jesus is alive, we are able to seek him and find him and love him. So I sang it anyway. After sunrise service the gang went to Peddler's for breakfast. It was good food and fellowship. My parents were able to come with us and that was nice.

After breakfast it was back to church for the morning service. Pastor spoke on the resurrection shown in the book of Matthew. Before his message, Ruth Collins asked if I would sing the song I sang that morning for I did. It lead into the message very well.

After church, Ginger and I were looking for a friend, and was able to find out that he was safe, but we still haven't seen him. We ended up at Pizza Hut and met up with my parents again for lunch. Afterwords we went home and I took a nap and she watched a movie...and then napped for about 10 minutes.

It was back to church for the evening service and I really enjoyed the message tonight. Pastor Scott spoke from Phil. 1:1-7 - using verse 6 as the key. He said that when we become a Christian, God does a definite work, then a divine plan, and determined work (He doesn't give up on us). It was a really good message. Before the message tonight, Gary and Connie Carrico sang "I Bow On My Knees and Cried Holy." I love that song and when they sing blesses my heart.

After church was over, I went over to Kat and Ben's and fellowshipped with them and Mary. We just talked and I ate some popcorn. I'm getting tired from the long day so I'm heading out...but before I do I wanted to write a little about the song "The More I Seek You."

My brother sent me an mp3 file with that song and asked me to listen to it and learn it. He wanted to play it for me the next time he was visiting. I would have loved to wait for him to accompany me, but the song had been on my heart a lot recently. So I found the track that was recorded with the file I had heard. It's a beautiful accompaniment, and the simple lyric just reaches out and touches a person.

The more I seek You, the more I find You
The more I find You, the more I love You
I want to sit at Your feet, drink from the cup in Your hands
Lay back against You and breathe, feel Your heartbeat
This love is so deep, it's more than I can stand
I melt in Your peace, it's overwhelming

I hope you were able to find time to seek Jesus today and that the love He gives us overflowed in your life.

God bless....

American Idol - Results

Well...I really liked Scott as a person and even as a musician think he's a pretty talented guy. To overcome the obstacles that life has placed in front of him is amazing. It was hard to see him go home, but I really do believe that was the right choice. In all fairness, based on his performance, it was time for him to go.

Scott worked hard each week, and sometimes song choice didn't get him good reviews from the judges, but each week he showed us a new side to him. Even if he was at the piano week after week. He did well during the competition and if he's able to release a CD, I think it may do pretty well...but to have the title as "The American Idol" I have to say he didn't impress me that much.

Until next week...Happy Easter to everyone

(I am feeling much better now...thanks for the prayers)

American Idol - Top 8

I want to remind people reading this blog that I do this fun for me. Sharing my opinion about the performance is something that I enjoy doing. If you don't agree it's okay.

This week was going to be fun...because of song choice...most of the songs would be from the 80's...which I think was the best decade for music. However, I was surprised by the songs that were picked for performance.

Let's begin...

Danny - a favorite of mine
Danny is an incredible singer. I love the soulfulness in his voice. He's very good. I really liked the arrangement of the song (surprised I agreed with Paula on this one...). I liked the way he jazzed things up after a bit of the beginning.

Kris -
Kris has not been a favorite of mine...however last week he really had me thinking he was going to do well for the next few weeks. I don't think he will be the one to leave tomorrow, but I do think his performance may get him in the bottom 3. I agreed with Simon and Randy...however, with Simon saying it was an utter mess, I wouldn't go that far. I did think the song choice wasn't the best for him.

Lil -
Interesting performance for me. When she began, she looked great. I even thought she sounded great. I was surprised that my thoughts were totally opposite of what the judges said. I didn't think it was a copy cat...however, I can see where she was doing the "Tina walk" but vocally I didn't hear it as copy cat.

Anoop -
Interesting thing about Anoop is he can sing. Give this boy a ballad and he will sing it like no other...give him an upbeat song though...and he will get lost. I think he will be safe this week, but I do believe his weeks are numbered.

Scott -
Vocally I thought it was okay. The guitar playing was atrocious. I don't mean to be cruel to him, but he needs to be at the piano. I know Paula suggested him to take a step away, but going to the electric guitar just wasn't the best choice. I know he wanted to show versatility, but I think it may land him in trouble this week.

Allison -
I like Allison, but I actually disagreed with the judges this week. I actually thought it sounded like a copy cat performance. I know she has a voice, but if I had my eyes closed I could have thought it was Bonnie singing it instead of Allison. I thought it interesting that with both girl performances that I differed with the judges.

Matt - My Matt...I love him!
I love Matt...he is an incredible performer. I love his funkiness...he's got flavor to him. He's very talented. I loved his take on this Steve song. He was a showman tonight.

A.Lambert -
When he announced A.Lambert to be singing next and had the picture of him in the vampire costume, I thought...hmm...another vampire I wouldn't mind having around me. LOL!!! But as for the performance. Vocally he was flawless. I wasn't too fond of the song choice, but I think it was because I don't remember the original, but his vocal was amazing. He's got talent.

My picks for the evening were Danny, My Matt, and A.Lambert. As far as the bottom three, based on the judges criticism...I think it will be Lil, Kris, and Scott. I think Lil is possibly going home this week.

Until tomorrow night.

(Been dealing with a stomach virus...not able to stomach anything but saltine crackers...please be praying for me)

American Idol Results show...

Praise the Lord! Okay so for the last several weeks I have stated that I think Megan should be the one to leave the competition. A few weeks ago, she got the sick vote. I'm not sure what happened last week, but this week has finally been the week for her to go. I really am thankful that my Matt made it through. I found out tonight that two of my friends had also voted a lot for Matt to stay in...yes we all believe that his performance last week was better than this week, but we agreed with Kara thinking he should not go home yet.

I liked the fact that Simon didn't give her a hope of being saved. Not that I didn't want her to get another shot, but the fact that when they did it to the girl a few weeks just felt horrible.

I was surprised that Allison was in the bottom three...I really thought it may be Lil or Matt, but thankfully all three of them were safe.

I think the top 8 is a talented bunch of people...I'm thankful of that mainly because each week, I will definitely be voting on that week's performance. So I pray that each of my people I'm pulling for bring it each week.

Well...that's all for now...until next time...
