Today...I went shopping for a newer car. I currently had been driving a 98 Chevy Malibu...I remember when I got it I was so happy to have something that was nicer than the previous car I had...which is funny because I'm getting that feeling again. Today I purchased a 2007 Honda CVR. It was excited and scary at the same time. I know that God is supplying the money to pay for my newer car. He's given me a really good job and a part-time job will almost pay for my car payment.
It was an interesting day. I drove up and met my brother-in-law Mike and sister Becky. Mike had been guiding me with research advice, and was really proud of the work that I had put into the choice of my car. He was satisfied with my decision to get the 07 instead of 08. There was just some really good things about the difference to bring me to it. So while we were at the dealer's desk, I noticed a devotional calendar on the desk. It had a quote and verse. My brother-in-law Mike asked him if he was a believer. He said, "yes, I am." Mike then replied, "what do you believe in when you say that you are a believer?" He said, "well, I'm a Christian." So Mike worded the question differently..."What are believing in?" He said, "Jesus!" But realized that it wasn't going to be enough, so he took his hand out and began listing what he believed about Jesus. That He came to earth to die for our sins, and rose again, and that if we believe in Jesus' death and resurrection that we can be saved. To that response my brother-in-law reached for his hand and said, "Nice to meet you brother." It was just a really good experience...once talking to him about that, we were able to find out that the owners of the dealership were Christians and that they choose to be closed on Sundays for that reason. It just seemed the more I sat there the more I realized there was a reason that I didn't buy a car at the other lot I had went to a week ago.
I was hoping that I would be able to play my ipod on the way home...and be able to pick my first song that I played in it, but the ipod jack I brought with me to the dealership didn't work in my Honda...I will be able to play it, but I have to hook it up with my other jack. Anyway...I had turned the radio on when I was pulling out of the dealership and noticed it was on a Christian radio station...I was impressed, but I believe God allowed this song to be the first song I heard when I was driving my new car to remind me that this car is not the most important thing to me. It is HIM...He's everything to me.
The group that I sing with...I:43 sings this song and when we had mission conference this was the song that we chose. I didn't realize how this is a good song to remember on Easter. Most songs we think are about his death, burial and resurrection...which those things are why we celebrate Easter...but if we have accepted Jesus as our Savior and we are pursuing a godly and holy life...we need to keep Jesus in FIRST place. Which means He's EVERYTHING TO ME!
