organizing

Yesterday, after working in Grayson all afternoon, I went by church on my way home.  It was nice to see some of them before they walked out to go home.  I locked up too...glad I was able to still do part of my job (even though I miss most of the day with my church family because of my regular job).  Anyway, I had gone to the back in the fellowship hall and found my Sunday school material for next week. I really enjoy getting the new material.  I can go through it and see what I can use and what I need to do at searching for other supplies.

I got the handwork books, activity, & take-home sheets divided, and all of different pictures and flannel graph needed for each lesson.

Yesterday the kids seemed to do okay...the little girl was having a rough day, but she did well anyway.

I also got a chance to pick up my CD that Ben made for me of the services that I missed.  I was able to listen to the mornings message on my way to work and on the way back home.  I'm glad I don't have to miss church every week, because it is weird for me to not go.

Until next time...

curls for the evening...and playing around with my web cam

Just some pictures of my curls for the evening...and playing with my webcam...

I like this border...with the looking like a picture from a camera.

The Coffee House

The group I sing with (I:43) is singing at a Coffee House in Kentucky.  I'm excited about it, because it's a new location we will be singing.  The guy who began this Coffee House used to run the one at First Baptist Church in Ironton and we sang twice at that one.  He called a couple of weeks ago and we tried to get everything together.

Our orinigal group has been going through some adjustments.  One of the girls has left and we were working with another one to fill her spot.  But this Coffee House will be just Kathi, Mary and myself. Our new girl has some other obligations.  We had to work a few kinks out on Thursday and we hope that we should be able to run the songs before tonight.

Pray for us if you read this before 5:30 pm.  Coffee House begins at 5:50 with sound check at 5:00.

I'll post pics tonight if I get a chance to take any.

Until next time...

K-LOVE - MercyMe "Move" LIVE

Mentioned how I went to the Mercy Me concert the other night.  I have been listening to their latest CD like crazy...probably because I don't have Natalie Grant's or Kerrie Roberts' new ones.  Getting them today though :) Payday!!

Anyway...a friend of my share a link of this video on her facebook and mentioned in a comment that she thought I'd appreciate it...I DID!!  I love this song not just because of the fast pace or cool sound, but because it's a great reminder of how I need to live as a Christian in the world.

It's (past) time to get ready for work.  Must close this blog to finish (start) getting ready and get to work on time.

Until next time...

All Of Creation

Tonight I went to see Mercy Me with my sister Leah, nephew Nicholas and friends Kat and Mary.  We had an amazing time tonight.  I love how Mercy Me is about praising God in their concert...yes we had fun and danced crazy, but when it all came down, it was a very special night of praising God.

My favorite song "Alright" was sung.  It's my favorite song because it has the message of "Bring the Rain" but more upbeat attitude (in other words, I dance during it, than cry like I do when I hear "Bring the Rain").  My favorite part of that song is the tag at the end..."count it pure joy when the world comes crashin', hold your head up and keep on dancin'" Such a great message and encouragement for Christians.  It actually reminds me of how I was when the hole situation with the layoffs at work.  I remember one of my co-workers who asked me, "why are you not worried about this?"  It was a great opportunity for me to share my faith in God and how I trust Him with my future.  I think this opportunity came to help me speak up about my faith.

I bought their new CD, because it was only $5.  I really like a few songs on it, but the one I posted is dedicated to my sister.  She wrote on my facebook wall "As soon as they start singing "All of Creation" and he drops that word "separated" you know what's coming next...get those hands in the air and start praising for me too..."  I miss my sister and am thankful that we are able to worship with each other in spirit.  I really wish she were here or at least lived closer.  It would have been fun to have her with Leah and me at the concert.

Until next time...

Thankful (with lyrics)

So, on the way home from work today, my sister brought up a point.  I was telling her about my job and how things are crazy.  She asked, "are you thankful you have a job?"  I answered her with a yes...and I began to think about it.  The hospital that I work for last month laid off many...thankfully I still have a job (for now).  And even though the past two times I worked alone in my department and through my lunch, I do have an amazing group of people that I work with who really help me out when I need it.

Thanking about being thankful...had me thinking of this song by Caedmon's Call that I saw live.  It was my favorite song they ever recorded.  Hope you enjoy...and that it helps you to remember to be thankful for what God allows to come our way...the good and the ugly.  LOL!!

One Tree Hill DVD Season 7

I'm in happy mood today.  My favorite show released the Season 7 DVD...One Tree Hill.  I began watching the first episode already ... it feels like it's been longer than just a year since it was first on the network.  I had forgotten how much I liked the character of Alex Dupre.  She was funny at the beginning of the season, but later got on my nerves.

I'm looking forward to Season 8 beginning, September 14th.  They had some really good cliff hangers, so I'm looking forward to the first episode.

pic of the day - shelf in room

This is my shelf in my room. I re-painted it orange and white and added some pictures.  On top of the shelf is a picture of my momma when she was a senior.  The doll is the one I carried EVERYWHERE as a little girl.  The next thing, is a gift from a special friend.  The penguin is one of my gifts from my sister Leah.  The pictures are from left to right - one of the jump shots from the beach, a picture of the penguins that my niece took, and then a picture of me and Maddie.  I really like this shelf especially since it's matching my room now.

Improvements

I teach the pre-primary Sunday school class and most days I want to quit after Sunday school ends, but I feel were are improving things.  I have two kids who come regular to the class.  They are cousins to each other.  One is a boy the other is a girl.  The little girl seems to do pretty well with behaving, but the little boy struggles sometimes.

This past Sunday though, I walked into class with them and said, "what are we going to do today?"  And the little boy said, "be good." I was a little surprised he said it, but said, "I'm so glad to know that." Then while I taught my lesson, he listened...after the lesson was over, I began to ask questions about lesson, and he answered them all correctly.  I was so happy...I think I may have a special surprise next week :)

Kerrie Roberts- No Matter What **With Lyrics**

No Matter What...

"Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors." Psalm 119:24 (NASB)

My pastor is going through Psalm 119 on Sunday nights. He is taking 8 verses each week. He began three weeks ago. He has challenged us to take one verse from the passage he preaches from and meditate each day of that week. The above verse is my verse for the week. His outline for the righteous (or upright people) is the following:
1. The upright desires life - they want to live in God's plan for their life
2. The upright desires light - they are illuminated by God's Word
3. The upright desires learning - they don't ever quit learning and studying God's word
4. The upright have a longing - they are drawn (like a magnet) for God's word

He ended the message with our challenge...when we don't have the answer for what we are facing in life we are to look in the Word. Just as we sometimes google things to find out the answers to those odd questions we have...we should search God's word for those answers. Verse 24 is a good summary for this passage is it states "Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors."

This past week, I was introduced to a new song, "No Matter What" by Kerrie Roberts. This song came at just the right time for me. It talks about how we run to God when life is not always going our way. My favorite line is in the bridge:

anything I don't have you can give it to me,
but it's okay if you don't,
I'm not here for those things,
the touch of your love is enough on its own
...no matter what, I still love you,
and I'm gonna need You.

There are times that I have asked God for things and He has chosen to not give those things to me, but I have to remember I'm not here on earth to get things, I'm here to bring glory to God. By loving Him even though I don't get everything that I ask for, is a GREAT way to bring glory to Him. I can say, "No matter what, I still love God, and I'm gonna need Him. His testimonies also are my delight...they are my counselors."

I have posted the link to the song and there are lyrics with them. Please listen to it...and remember that God loves us, and no matter what, we should love Him too.

Until next time...

Pic of the day - new sheets

So this past month I have been working on getting a color scheme for my room. I love penguins and have been decorating my room with them all over...gifts and presents from friends, family and people who know I like them. It's been really fun getting things together, but I still hadn't decided what to do with the accent color. I had blue from the last time, but I really wasn't liking it. My mom bought me a comforter for my birthday that had light blue (one of my favorite colors), but I still hadn't gotten anything to go with it.
The other day I went to (The) Wal-mart just looking at different stuff for VBS. Well...I had seen this orange throw (blanket) that was really soft and thought I'd really like to have it. Orange is my second favorite color. Anyway, I didn't get it that first day I saw it...but had some extra money and thought about it again. Wal-mart has the college stuff in stock and I found the orange sheets on sale (they are a microfiber ... which are softer than most sheets out there). Well...I put them in my cart, then I found this pillow for sitting up in the bed that was orange. I put it in my cart too. I finally thought if I can find that blanket I know it's meant to be...well, I looked in every bedroom stuff isle (twice), and was about to put the stuff up, but I rounded the corner and found on a end cap the blankets...and one was orange. YEAH!!! It was meant to be.
I have a quilt that my mom made when I was little. I remember watching her make it and somehow I ended up with it for several years. Now that it is getting older (and very worn), I decided that it may be a good idea to get a new "security" blanket. The penguin comforter that my mom bought would be really good to use this, with the exception that the backing of the comforter had a weird texture. I bought a queen size orange sheet for my mom to sew on the back of it...that way my orange accent would have a base of where it started. It looks really good and it is so nice. I think I will keep the old quilt for awhile...especially in the winter time when I have about 3 to 4 blankets on my bed (no heater in my room by choice, because I like it colder in my room)...that way I'll still have my "security" blanket with me.
Now...you may be wondering...why does a 40 year old have a "security" blanket? Well...I'm single....enough said :)
