Day 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 - Thankful Challenge

Day 24 - I'm thankful for my Sunday school class kids.  I have three boys who are normally in my class. It amazes me how much they are learning.  We have been going over the fruit of the Spirit. They can tell me each of the verses that we have learned for each fruit.  I just love hearing them tell me what they are.  My time with them is planting the little seeds of the faith. I'm amazed that God has given them to me to love.

What's even better is when I'm able to see visitors who visit family in our town.  This morning I had a little sister of a boy that usually comes to my class when he visits.  It was so nice being able to have a little girl in our class. She was only 2, but was very well behaved. I just enjoy my time with those kids.

Day 25 - I'm thankful for Monday Zumba days. It's one of my best days for my UP band by Jawbone, but also because I get to see some really encouraging girls.

Day 26 - I'm thankful for this thankful challenge.  It has been fun "counting my blessings."

Day 27 - I'm thankful that Thatcher (son of Marisa and Adam Hock) gave me a hug yesterday. Chloe is very outgoing now and she loves to be around people and is always there to give me a hug, but Thatcher is not as outgoing.  I asked for a hug and he reached for me.  It was just nice to have him do that.

Day 28 - I am thankful that God has given me air to breathe today. I'm alive .

Day 28 - I am thankful that God has given me air to breathe today. I'm alive...therefore I should be thankful!

Day 23 - Thankful Challenge

Day 23 - I'm thankful for "Thanksgiving with Friends." This is something that a group of my friends from church began 8 years ago. We wanted to get together and make "thanksgiving dinner" and invite friends to eat with us. Last year, I was not up to celebrating this festive time, but thankfully this year, I'm ready again to be together with some of my closest friends.

Day 19, 20, 21, and 22 (I know I fell behind again)

Thankfully my Facebook page was kept up to date.

Day 19 -I'm thankful for bonus' we got this year at work.  It may not have been what it was last year, but we still got it and I still have a job.

Day 20 - I'm thankful for the Daily Bread Devotional.  Even though it's a short devotional it usually leads me to further study of God's Word.  A few thankful post ago, I quotes Phil. 2:4, today's reading has quoted it too.  Reminding us to look around to others where we can show genuine concern for others. The act of doing for others is more encouraging to me most times.

Day 21 - I'm thankful for a friend of mine who sent me some deer jerky.  I was so excited when I came home from work and had this envelope in my chair.

Day 22 - I'm thankful for my time with my accountability partner.  We usually get to touch base throughout each week, but we make plans to actually sit down and discuss during some uninterrupted time.  I believe everyone should have someone that they can call an accountability partner. It's going to be someone who will call you out when you are being selfish.  It's someone who will pray with you.  And someone you can trust!

Day 18 - Thankful Challenge

Day 18 - I'm thankful for the ability to sing songs. I love being able to sing at church to glorify my God! He is the reason I sing. I love being able to lead music at church, sing in the choir, sing with my I:43 partners in crime (CarrieKathi, and Tim), and sing solos at church. But some of my favorite times singing is while cleaning the church when no one else is there. Sometimes singing when no one else is around are special times for me. I have always felt that music is the background of my life. I remember songs like I remember moments in my life. There is usually a theme song for each moment. Most of my music collection is Contemporary Christian, because that's what I prefer, however, I do like singing fun pop songs too (especially with my niece Madison). We belt out some really good Justin Bieber when she is visiting me. We usually have a party anytime we are riding in my car  I remember we used to get my dad to sing with us too. It was a blast and I'm thankful for those memories

This video was done in 2009 at our Easter Music Service. Video taken by Linda Gayle Bailey.

Day 17 - Thankful Challenge

Day 17 - I'm thankful for Sunday afternoon naps. It's one of the best days to nap. I am also thankful for a new comfy chair to be able to sit in and nap on those Sunday afternoons.

Day 16 - Thankful Challenge

Day 16 - I am thankful for my friend Sara Vanover. Our friendship has grown over the last year and a half and when I felt at my lowest during my dad's home going, she reached down to make sure I didn't totally lose it. Each day we text each other just to say hi! And sometimes once we find out the other is having a crazy day offer a pray on each other's behalf. We challenge each other, support and encourage each other. I'm thankful to have her as another single friend who's not afraid to go on adventures with me. Sometimes they are spur of the moments, but are usually fun. I'm so thankful that God placed it on her heart to make sure I didn't stay in that low point.

Day 15 - Thankful Challenge

Day 15 - I'm thankful I'm able to do things for others. It's a blessing to be a servant to others. My dad taught me how to be a servant by example. I'm thankful he instilled in me the teaching to putting others first. Jesus our greatest example came to earth as a lowly baby, and took our sacrifice. He didn't think of Himself, but He thought of us and how we couldn't pay for our sin. The payment was way to high a price for us to handle on our own. Jesus loved people. He loved being able to provider for their needs. He showed us by example how we can serve others. One of my favorite verses about putting others first is Philippians 2:4 "do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."

Day 14 - Thankful Challenge

Day 14- I'm thankful for my Zumba zeeps! They make my Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays much brighter. They work hard even when they are tired. They make me laugh when wardrobe malfunctions happen. They are a bunch of girls who have encouraged me more than they know.

Day 13 - Thankful Challenge

Day 13 - I am thankful for my nieces and nephews. I have 6 brothers and sisters, and 5 of them have children and two of them have given me "great" niece and nephews. Each are talented have a heart to use their talent for the Lord. It amazes me the talent that is in my family. With the CPR2 boys and their seasonal videos to musical instruments and vocals they use. I am amazed to see what God has done in their lives and what He will continue to do in them. A special shout out to Micah Jayne who exceeded a request for a soundtrack to be made. I will be forever grateful for what you did in that gesture for me. So excited to get to meet my newest Great nephew Landon in a few weeks.

Day 12 - Thankful Challenge

Day 12 - I'm thankful for my dad who taught me to drive in snow. I don't like doing it, but he prepared me to know how to if and when it does snow. I remember a few years ago when I was at work and he was home on pins and needles. I assured him that he taught me to go slow and how to be careful. That doesn't mean I will never get in an accident, but that I don't just drive like a maniac.

Day 11 - Thankful Challenge

Day 11 - I'm thankful for those who have fought for our freedom. Some of those have also given their life for that freedom. This freedom is sometimes taken for granted. In proud to say my dad served our country in the United States Air Force.

Day 10 - Thankful Challenge

Day 10 - I am thankful for the gospel...the death, burial and resurrection. It's the foundation of what I believe and how I live my life. It's the reason why Gateway Baptist Church will be baptizing 5 people today. It's the reason why I don't worry about my employment (even though I work for a company who has laid-off every year since I began working there). Some may ask why I don't worry about a lot of's because of the gospel. You see for Jesus to come as a baby, live a sinless life, die for the sins of the world, and rise again, I'm able to trust Him with my eternity. That's a big thing. Since I trust Him with the big's easier to trust Him with the little things. Every Sunday is a celebration day for Christians. Oh, we may not say every time or think it, but when we gather together with fellow believers on Sunday we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus! Happy Resurrection Day!

Day 9 - Thankful Challenge

Day 9 - I'm thankful for prayer. The ability to talk to God anywhere, anytime! I don't have to bow my head and close my eyes (especially while driving). I can just talk to Him like I do my family and friends. One thing I have learned about's not coming before the Throne of God, dressed in our Sunday best. It's coming before the Throne of God, boldly...yet as a friend of God.

I remember when I went through a lesson period where God was teaching me to pray to Him...even when I was upset with how He was working things out. He already knew I was upset. He already knew I didn't feel like praying, yet I went in prayer to Him and told him. "I know that You understand I'm upset and not happy with how you are working in this matter, but You are in control and I have to understand that I can't see the BIG picture."

When I began to praying even when I was angry, upset, sad, or prayer life became more like ... breathing. I'm thankful for that ability to come before the Throne of God and be able to deal with sin, accept the forgiveness that He offers, intercede for others as well as myself, and just talk to Him. He's there for us. He wants us to just talk to Him.

Thankfully Challenge - Day 8 (I'm still behind)

Day 8 - I'm thankful for my parents. (Previously I mentioned my heritage, but this time it's more for them as my parents) some people aren't able to say they have a father or mother who loved them and cared for them, but God blessed me with a father and a mother who loved me enough to show me what life is all about...God! They have lived by example (not perfectly) but even in their imperfections I have been a witness to just how far God'd grace can reach. I'm truly blessed...and one day hope to have a relationship with my future husband that can be a shadow of my parents relationship to me.

30 days of Thanksgiving - days 1 through 7

I guess I should have started this blog 7 days ago.  I forgot that I could add this here and allow it to be an easier way for me to see what I am thankful for.

Day 1 - I'm thankful for the privilege to worship the One True God! My favorite time of worship is church cleaning time.  Let's do this!

Day 2 - I'm thankful for Jesus.  He came to earth and died for the sins of the world.  He loved me when I was at my worst!

Day 3 - I am thankful for my heritage.  My parents raised me in a Christian home and taught me about the most important relationship in my relationship with Jesus as my Savior.  My dad preached the word for over 40 years and my mom led me to Jesus one cold winter night.  I'm thankful they taught me about Jesus so that I can teach my Sunday school kids about Him too!

Day 3 - Part 2 - I'm thankful for what God is doing at Gateway Baptist Church.  We had a young lady accept Jesus as her Savior this morning, her son was saved in VBS this year, they will be getting baptized next week.  A little boy who used to be in my Sunday school class was saved this week and will be baptized next week as well.  This afternoon, we had two others who came for membership (one based on experience and one by baptism - which will happen next week). We also heard of another little girl (who was saved in the last couple of months) asking to be baptized next week too.  During invitation, we had yet another person come forward for membership to our church (based on experience). Praise the Lord for all that He is doing in our church.

Day 4 - I am thankful for the ability to go to a job that can be of help in paying my bills. God supplies my needs, this job doesn't, but God led me to the job to help in paying my bills.  I am thankful God has led me to be here and need to be remember that this where He has me for this moment in time.

Day 5 - I'm thankful for my big family. I  love having so many brothers and sisters.  It's fun to be with them. I'm looking forward to seeing them at "Buckeye Christmas" in a few weeks.

Day 6 - I'm thankful for my pastor - Scott Jenkins.   He is a man of integrity who preaches God's Word even if it may offend people because of sin in their lives. He has said he learned a lot from my dad - Charles Jayne, which is why his teaching reminds me of my dad.  I'm thankful for his biblical advice and counsel he is will to give.  The support that he gave me and my family during my dad's illness was very special to me.

Day 7 - I'm thankful for contemporary Christmas music.  Music is a big part of my life.  I use it in my worship time with God, I consider it a background to moments of my life.  I have always been a fan of CCM, but having an experience when I had to make the decision to NOT listen to certain artists during my education has made me appreciate it more.  Realizing it is more than just listening to the music, but listening to the words and how they can impact my life and my relationship with God.  I'm thankful for the ability to sing these songs as part of my worship to God. HE gave me my voice, and I want to use it to glorify Him with it.

Praise the Lord, He can work through those who praise Him, Praise the Lord, For our God inhabits praise, Praise the Lord, For the chains that seem to bind us, Serve only to remind us, that they drop powerless behind us, when we praise the Lord.

Day 7 - Part 2 - I'm thankful for musicians like Tobymac, Chris August, Mandisa, Jamie Grace and Brandon Heath who come to a little city like Huntington to encourage us with amazing music! Love you all!!!
